INDIANA COUNTY, PA — Transport of heavy energy equipment to the Homer City Energy Campus will begin on Wednesday, September 16 and continue through Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The transport is being managed by Edwards Moving & Rigging (“Edwards”), a specialized heavy-haul and rigging company. Edwards is working closely with Homer City Generation, GE Vernova, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (“PennDOT”) and local police and traffic control personnel to ensure the equipment is transported safely and responsibly, with as much notification and as little disruption as possible to the communities it is required to travel through.

During the months of September and October 2026, Edwards will be transporting fifteen heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) to the Homer City Energy Campus. The HRSGs range in weight from approximately 228,000 pounds to 438,000 pounds and will be transported by Edwards on specialized Goldhofer modular trailers engineered for moving exceptionally large and heavy loads.

Multiple entities including the Pennsylvania State Police and escort vehicles will accompany the transport alongside specialized bucket trucks that will assist with safely raising or clearing traffic signals, utility lines, and other overhead infrastructure as necessary to allow the loads to pass.

Where to Find Information About the Transport’s Route:

Detailed information about the transport’s route, which begins in Schenley and ends at the Homer City Energy Campus, has been published by PennDOT and is available here: Slow-Moving Superload Set to Move Through Area Including Armstrong, Westmoreland and Indiana Counties

Please note travel dates and times may be affected by weather. Because of the size and weight of the equipment and transport configurations, motorists may encounter temporary delays as the loads move through the area.

Homer City Generation thanks all residents for their patience and cooperation during this process and ask motorists who encounter the transports to remain alert, follow the direction of police and traffic-control personnel, and provide the Edwards crews with adequate space to perform their work safely.

How to Receive Daily Updates on the Transport Schedule:

Edwards will post a daily update on the transport schedule to its Facebook page at approximately 7:00 PM each evening: www.facebook.com/edwardsmoving
